Travel Time Tips

Direct vs. Connecting

Nonstop flights save 2-4 hours on average. If budget allows, nonstop is almost always worth the premium for flights over 5 hours.

Red-Eye Strategy

Overnight flights to Europe and South America let you "skip" a night. You depart evening, sleep on the plane, and arrive in the morning ready to explore.

Layover Planning

Book layovers of 2+ hours for domestic connections and 3+ hours internationally. Short layovers save time on paper but risk missed flights.

Time Zone Fatigue

Jet lag hits hardest traveling east. Budget a recovery day for every 3 time zones crossed. Westbound travel is typically easier to adjust to.
