Magens Bay

Magens Bay, St. Thomas, USVI

Consistently rated one of world's most beautiful beaches. Mile-long white sand crescent bay. Calm clear water perfect for swimming. Facilities, food vendors, water sports. $5 admission. No passport needed for US citizens.

Local Tips
Arrive before 8:30 AM to avoid the cruise ship crowds that typically arrive around 10 AM and stay until 3 PM. Early morning also offers the calmest water conditions and best parking spots near the beach entrance.
Skip the expensive beach chair rentals ($8-12) and bring a beach towel to use on the natural sandy areas near the coconut palms on the far left side of the beach - it's just as comfortable and completely free.
Beach

Coki Beach

Coki Point, St. Thomas, USVI

Near Coral World Ocean Park. Excellent snorkeling and diving. Clear water, colorful fish. Beach bars, restaurants, vendors. Water sports rentals. Family-friendly. No passport needed.

Local Tips
Visit Coki Beach before 10 AM or after 3 PM to avoid the cruise ship crowds. Most ship excursions arrive between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, so you'll have much more space on the beach and better snorkeling visibility during off-peak hours.
Be cautious of your belongings at Coki Beach - it's known locally for petty theft. Never leave valuables unattended on the sand. Instead, rent a locker at Coral World next door for $5, or ask the beach bar staff to hold your items while you swim (they're usually happy to help regular customers).
Beach

Lindbergh Bay Beach

Lindbergh Bay, St. Thomas, USVI

Near airport. Local favorite with calm water, white sand. Great swimming and sunset views. Beach bars and restaurants. Less crowded than Magens Bay. No passport needed.

Local Tips
Visit Lindbergh Bay Beach on weekday mornings before 10 AM to have the beach practically to yourself, as most tourists stay at their resorts for breakfast and cruise ship passengers haven't arrived yet. The beach gets crowded after 11 AM when the airport shuttle tours start dropping people off.
Be aware that planes from Cyril E. King Airport take off directly over the beach every 15-20 minutes during peak travel times. While it makes for dramatic photos, the jet noise can be startling if you're not expecting it, and you'll want to secure any loose items like hats or beach towels when larger aircraft pass overhead.
Beach

Sapphire Beach

Sapphire Bay, St. Thomas, USVI

East end beach with beautiful sapphire-blue water. White sand, palm trees. Water sports, snorkeling, beach bar. Near Sapphire Beach Resort. Calm protected bay. No passport needed.

Local Tips
Visit Sapphire Beach on weekday mornings before 10 AM to avoid the cruise ship crowds that arrive around 11 AM and stay until 4 PM. The beach is practically empty during these early hours, giving you the best chance for photos and peaceful swimming.
Park at the free public parking area near the Sapphire Beach Resort entrance rather than paying for resort parking. Walk through the resort property to access the beach - it's completely legal as the beach itself is public, and you'll save $10-15 in parking fees.
