Reduit Beach

Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, St. Lucia

Longest and most popular beach in St. Lucia. Golden sand, calm water. Water sports, restaurants, bars. Near Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Great swimming and sunbathing. Stunning views.

Local Tips
Visit Reduit Beach early morning (7-9 AM) or late afternoon (4-6 PM) to avoid the cruise ship crowds. When ships dock at Castries, tour buses flood the beach between 10 AM and 3 PM, making it extremely crowded and limiting your space to set up.
Instead of renting beach chairs from the resort vendors for $15-20, walk to the public access area near Spinnakers Restaurant where you can use the beach for free. Bring your own towel and buy drinks from the local vendors who sell cold Piton beer and fresh coconut water at half the resort prices.
Be cautious of the strong undertow on the northern end of Reduit Beach, especially during rougher weather. Locals avoid swimming there and stick to the calmer central area near the Bay Gardens resorts where lifeguards are present and the water conditions are safer.
Beach

Marigot Bay Beach

Marigot Bay, St. Lucia

Picturesque bay considered one of most beautiful in Caribbean. Sheltered harbor, palm-fringed beach. Calm water perfect for swimming. Luxury resorts and restaurants. Water taxi access.

Local Tips
Visit Marigot Bay Beach early morning (7-8 AM) or late afternoon (4-5 PM) to avoid the cruise ship crowds and tour groups that typically arrive between 10 AM-3 PM. The bay is also much more photogenic during golden hour when the surrounding hills create beautiful reflections in the calm water.
Be cautious of the strong undertow on the ocean-facing side of the bay, especially during rougher weather. Locals stick to swimming in the protected inner bay area where the water is calmer and safer. Also watch for boat traffic as this is an active marina - always stay close to the designated swimming areas.
Skip the expensive water taxi from the main road and walk the free pedestrian bridge that locals use to cross to the beach area. The bridge offers great views and saves you 10-15 EC dollars each way. Park at the small lot near Hurricane Hole Marina instead of paying resort parking fees.
Beach

Anse Chastanet Beach

Soufriere, St. Lucia

Near iconic Pitons UNESCO World Heritage site. Black volcanic sand, excellent snorkeling and diving. Resort beach but accessible. Unique Caribbean experience with dramatic mountain backdrop.

Local Tips
Visit early morning around 7-8 AM when the beach is practically empty and the water is crystal clear. Most day-trippers and resort guests don't arrive until after 10 AM, giving you the entire beach to yourself for swimming and photos.
The beach has no facilities like restrooms or freshwater showers, and the nearest shops are a steep 10-minute hike uphill. Bring water, snacks, and reef-safe sunscreen as there's very little shade on the sand itself.
Walk to the far left end of the beach (north side) where there's a hidden snorkeling spot with vibrant coral formations just 20 feet from shore. The reef here is less damaged than the main swimming area because fewer people know about it.
