Seven Mile Beach - Bloody Bay

Bloody Bay, Negril, Jamaica

This legendary stretch of powdery white sand runs along Negril's Long Bay, offering seven miles of palm-lined paradise. The calm, shallow waters are ideal for swimming, while beach bars and resorts line the sand with loungers and cold drinks. The sunsets here are considered Jamaica's finest, painting the sky in spectacular oranges and pinks.

Local Tips
Visit the Bloody Bay section early morning (6-8 AM) when local fishermen are coming in with their catch - you'll have pristine water and can often buy fresh fish directly from the boats at much better prices than restaurants.
Be cautious of beach vendors who approach with 'free' hair braiding or temporary tattoos - they'll demand payment after the service is complete, often aggressively. Politely but firmly say 'no tanks' and keep walking to avoid confrontation.

Seven Mile Beach - Long Bay

Long Bay, Norman Manley Boulevard, Negril, Jamaica

Southern 5 miles of Seven Mile Beach. Mix of all-inclusives and smaller hotels. More active with live music venues. Long Bay Beach Park at north end has lifeguard, bathrooms, snack bar. Gentle descent, shallow water.

Local Tips
Visit the beach between 6:30-8:00 AM when the water is calmest and you'll have the best stretches nearly to yourself. Most tourists don't emerge until after 9 AM, and the local vendors haven't set up yet, giving you pristine photo opportunities and peaceful swimming conditions.
Walk past the resort areas to the public beach sections near Bloody Bay where local vendors sell fresh jelly coconuts for 200-300 JMD instead of the 800+ JMD charged at resort bars. The same vendors often have the freshest fried fish and festival bread at local prices if you ask politely.
