Cable Beach

Cable Beach, Nassau, Bahamas

3-mile stretch west of downtown Nassau. Lined with resorts including Sandals Royal Bahamian, Baha Mar complex. White sand, turquoise water. Water sports, restaurants, bars. Popular with tourists and locals.

Local Tips
Visit Cable Beach early morning before 9 AM or after 4 PM to avoid the cruise ship crowds and resort day-pass visitors. The beach is practically empty during these times, and you'll have the best pick of beach chairs and umbrellas without the hustle of vendors.
Instead of buying drinks from the expensive beachside bars, walk 2 minutes inland to the local corner shops on West Bay Street where locals buy their beverages for about 60% less than resort prices. You can bring drinks back to the public areas of the beach.
Beach

Paradise Island Beach

Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas

Beaches around Atlantis resort and Paradise Island. Beautiful white sand, clear water. Access to Aquaventure water park if staying at Atlantis. Cabbage Beach on north shore most popular.

Local Tips
Visit Paradise Island Beach early morning (7-9 AM) or late afternoon (4-6 PM) when the cruise ship crowds are either not yet arrived or have departed back to their ships. The beach is dramatically less crowded during these times, and you'll have prime spots near the iconic pink Atlantis towers.
Instead of paying for expensive beach chair rentals at the resort sections, walk to the far eastern end of Cove Beach (part of Paradise Island Beach) where locals set up more affordable chair and umbrella rentals for about half the price of the resort areas. The sand quality is identical and you're still on the same beautiful beach.
Beach

Junkanoo Beach

West Bay Street, Nassau, Bahamas

Public beach near downtown Nassau. White sand, clear water. Bathrooms, changing facilities. Popular with locals. Lively atmosphere with music and food vendors.

Local Tips
Visit Junkanoo Beach early morning (7-9 AM) on weekdays when cruise ships aren't in port - you'll have the beach nearly to yourself and can grab the best chair spots under the coconut palms before the vendors and crowds arrive.
Bring your own drinks and snacks in a cooler - while there's no official policy against it, many tourists don't realize you can save $15-20 per person by avoiding the overpriced beach bar and nearby vendors who charge premium prices for basic items.
