Treasure Beach

Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica

Series of four coves with golden sand and local fishing village atmosphere. Less touristy, authentic Jamaica. Calm water, friendly locals. Popular with independent travelers seeking tranquility.

Local Tips
Visit Treasure Beach during weekdays between 7-9 AM when the fishing boats return with their catch - you'll have the beach mostly to yourself and can watch the authentic daily routine of local fishermen bringing in their nets, plus the morning light is perfect for photos.
Instead of buying expensive snacks from beachside vendors, walk about 10 minutes inland to the small community shops where locals buy their supplies - you'll find cold Red Stripe beer for half the beach price and can get fresh coconut water directly from vendors with machetes for about 200 JMD instead of the 500+ charged at tourist spots.
Beach

Bluefields Beach

Bluefields, Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica

Long stretch of white sand beach with calm water. Public beach popular with locals. Jerk stands and beach bars. Authentic Jamaican beach experience. Safe swimming area.

Local Tips
Visit Bluefields Beach early morning around 6-7 AM or late afternoon after 4 PM to avoid the cruise ship crowds that typically arrive mid-morning and stay until mid-afternoon. The beach is practically empty during these times and you'll have the beautiful white sand and calm waters mostly to yourself.
Instead of buying expensive drinks from the beach vendors, walk 5 minutes inland to the small local shops along the main road where you can get cold Red Stripe beer and sodas for about half the price. The vendors won't mind if you bring your own drinks as long as you're respectful about it.
Beach

Frenchman's Cove Beach

Port Antonio area, Jamaica

Private beach where freshwater river meets Caribbean Sea in lush tropical setting. Unique swimming experience. Entry fee required. Beautiful scenery, perfect for photos.

Local Tips
Visit Frenchman's Cove early morning between 7-9 AM when the lighting is perfect and cruise ship passengers haven't arrived yet. The beach is practically empty during this time, and you'll have the iconic freshwater river meeting the sea all to yourself for photos.
Instead of paying the full entrance fee, ask locals about the 'back path' that leads to the public section of the beach near the river mouth. This area offers the same stunning scenery where the Blue Hole River meets the Caribbean Sea, but without the resort fees.
