Beach

Juanillo Beach

Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Stunning crescent-shaped beach in exclusive Cap Cana gated community. Crystal-clear turquoise water, pristine white sand. Perfect for families with calm shallow water. Home to luxury resorts and beach clubs.

Local Tips
Visit Juanillo Beach early morning between 7-9 AM when it's practically empty and the light is perfect. Most resort guests don't venture out until after 10 AM, so you'll have this stunning stretch of white sand almost entirely to yourself.
Be aware that Juanillo Beach is within a private resort area (Cap Cana), so access can be restricted. If you're not staying at a resort there, your best bet is to book a day pass through one of the beachfront restaurants like Juanillo or API Beach, which typically costs around $30-50 and includes beach chair access.
Beach

Playa Minitas

Casa de Campo, La Romana, Dominican Republic

Private beach at Casa de Campo resort. Calm protected waters, white sand, palm trees. Beach club with restaurant and water sports. Exclusive serene atmosphere.

Local Tips
Visit Playa Minitas early morning between 7-9 AM when the beach is virtually empty and the staff is still setting up the beach chairs. You'll have the pristine white sand and calm waters almost entirely to yourself, plus the morning light is perfect for photos before the crowds arrive around 10 AM.
Instead of paying for expensive drinks at the beach club, walk 5 minutes to the small colmado (corner store) just outside the Casa de Campo resort entrance where locals shop. You can buy cold beers and snacks for a fraction of the resort prices, then bring them back to enjoy on the beach.
Beach

Catalina Island Beach

Isla Catalina, near La Romana, Dominican Republic

Day trip from La Romana to pristine uninhabited island. Powdery white sand, crystal-clear water, excellent snorkeling. Protected marine sanctuary. Accessible by boat tour.

Local Tips
Visit Catalina Island on weekdays, especially Tuesday through Thursday, to avoid the weekend crowds from Santo Domingo. Most tour operators run fewer boats during weekdays, so you'll have more space on the beach and better snorkeling spots to yourself.
Bring your own snorkeling gear and water shoes instead of renting from tour operators. The rocky areas around the island can be sharp, and rental gear is often overpriced and low quality. Also, pack extra water and snacks since prices on the island are marked up significantly for tourists.
